Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced GIS Technician to join our team. The GIS Technician will play a crucial role in mapping, updating, and maintaining gas and electrical utility infrastructure using various software systems and platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate data representation, performing quality assurance checks, and supporting GIS workload to meet productivity goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Map, update, and maintain gas and electrical utility infrastructure using ESRI ArcMap, GE Smallworld, and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Provide analysis and verification of field information for accurate representation of utility infrastructure.
  • Perform data entry to maintain client records and service histories.
  • Utilize GIS software for production, editing, data management, and spatial analytics.
  • Collaborate with various teams to map electrical and gas facilities for a range of projects and clients.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) processes.
  • Conduct data analysis and entry to maintain accurate service records.
  • Support GIS workload to make sure productivity and goals are met effectively.
  • Collaborate with other GIS professionals and technicians to share knowledge and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Environmental Science, or a related field with an emphasis in GIS.
  • A GIS Certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional GIS work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer mapping and a solid understanding of basic processes within ArcGIS.
  • Proficiency in using ESRI ArcMap, GE Smallworld, and ArcGIS Pro for spatial analysis, data management, and production tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately interpret and represent complex data sets.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
