Summary:

In this role, The Designer offers design engineering, customer interaction, cost analysis, and problem resolution within electric systems. By merging expertise, experience, regulatory codes, industry norms, and identifying organizational needs, the Designer addresses technical issues and fulfills energy service requirements. They also facilitate technical support and coordination among service centers, external contractors, consultants, other utilities, and government bodies. Furthermore, the Designer ensures compliance with company, government, and client performance and safety standards, thereby maintaining system integrity and delivering outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize software tools such as MicroStation to create accurate and detailed designs for electric systems in residential, commercial, and industrial communities.
  • Collaborate with builders to understand project requirements and effectively communicate design specifications and progress updates.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Create site plans, maps, meter locations, and routes that align with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and We Energies guidelines.
  • Meet with WE Energy customers on construction sites to determine equipment and utility locations.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and high-quality deliverables are produced.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify potential design issues or improvements and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of design processes, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to electric design services.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
  • Secondary education in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical is preferred.
  • Driver license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Experience in electric design services, preferably in the residential, commercial, or industrial sectors is a plus.
  • Proficient using design software, specifically MicroStation and AutoCAD, with a strong understanding of design principles and best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with builders, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle a high workload, managing up to 20 projects concurrently.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on producing accurate and error-free designs.
  • Patient and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with the ability to navigate challenges and changes in project requirements.
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to electric design services is a plus.

Training:

The selected candidate will undergo a comprehensive training program, which will span approximately three months. This training will cover the specific design processes, tools, and workflows utilized within the We Energies account, as well as the software applications and communication protocols.
